Marta Zapparoli

Analog Devices, Tapes, Field Recordings

born 1975, Isola della Scala, Italy

Marta spent the last decade creating sound art, using field recordings, digital and custom analog tools as well as found instruments and objects. Her sonic work investigates environmental phenomena, acoustic ecology, noise pollution, focusing on sonic narratives & human emotions through de-composition and real-time manipulation, sounds that are considered non-musical or overheard.

From raindrops to footsteps to sine tones and cracked chips, she brings past experience into the present, relocating the orchestra in any number of environments, or placing the environment within the sonic spectrum of our improvisation.
